PROJECT: house
SCOPE: interior design + renovation
DESIGN CONCEPT: This house is located on Plantation Road at the Peak of Hong Kong Island with a breath-taking view of the Victoria Harbor. Based on the name of the street and the natural environment of the surroundings, the design of the interior of the house employs geometric motifs of trees and branches in its wall paneling, cabinetry, shelves, etc. appearing in various parts of the house. Timber, soft fabric, PVC leather, etc. are used as finishes on a number of walls, ceilings, floors and furniture pieces to give a warm homey atmosphere. Mirrors and reflective finishes also help to bring in more light and reflections of the harbor and the nature outside. Warm color LED lights are used as the general lighting to save energy, and floor heating is laid in all areas to maintain a dry humidity and a steady temperature to minimize deterioration of finishes.
